After years of speculation, delays, and uncertainty surrounding the future of HBO’s hit drama Euphoria, the network has officially confirmed that the series has ended with Season 3.
The confirmation came shortly after the Season 3 finale, “In God We Trust,” aired on May 31. While HBO had previously referred to the episode as a season finale, the network has now confirmed that it also serves as the series finale, bringing the acclaimed drama to a close after three seasons.
Series creator Sam Levinson confirmed the news during an appearance on The New York Times Popcast, where he reflected on the ending of the show.
“If HBO never lets me come back, I’d be happy with this ending.”
The statement appears to put an end to years of questions surrounding the future of Euphoria, which faced multiple production delays following its second season in 2022.
The series debuted in 2019 and quickly became one of HBO’s biggest cultural phenomena, earning critical acclaim for its visually striking presentation and emotionally charged storytelling. The show also helped launch the careers of several young stars, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, and Alexa Demie.
Fans had long suspected Season 3 would be the final chapter. Earlier this year, Zendaya seemingly confirmed those suspicions when discussing the future of the series.
“I think” it’s ending after Season 3.
Season 3 ultimately serves as the conclusion to Rue Bennett’s journey and closes the book on one of the most talked-about television dramas of the last decade.
With HBO officially confirming the series’ end, Euphoria leaves behind a legacy that reshaped modern teen drama television and became one of the defining shows of its generation.
