Michael B. Jordan is showing his support for the future of Wakanda.
Following Marvel Studios’ announcement at San Diego Comic-Con that David Jonsson will play the grown up Prince T’Challa II, the son of the late King T’Challa, in Black Panther 3, Jordan shared his excitement for the franchise’s next chapter.
Speaking at the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jordan praised the casting, saying he is excited to see what Jonsson brings to one of Marvel’s most iconic roles.
“Amazing. I can’t wait to see what he does.”
Jordan portrayed Erik Killmonger in 2018’s Black Panther before making a surprise return in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Although Killmonger remains one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most popular villains, Jordan’s comments made it clear he is fully behind the next generation of Wakanda’s story.

The casting of Jonsson was one of Marvel Studios’ biggest announcements during Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. Rather than recasting Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, Black Panther 3 will follow his son, T’Challa II, who was first introduced as a child during the closing moments of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Ryan Coogler returns to write and direct the film, with Letitia Wright reprising her role as Shuri.
Jonsson has quickly become one of Hollywood’s fastest rising stars following acclaimed performances in Rye Lane, Industry, and Alien: Romulus. His casting has been met with widespread praise, with many fans and fellow actors expressing confidence that he can carry on the Black Panther legacy while honoring Chadwick Boseman’s unforgettable performance.
Black Panther 3 is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 15, 2028, continuing Marvel Studios’ vision for Wakanda through a new generation of heroes.
