Marvel Studios has officially pulled the plug on Wonder Man. Despite previously announcing a second season earlier this year, the Disney+ series will not be moving forward, according to a new report from Variety.
The decision comes as a surprise to many Marvel fans. In March, Disney confirmed that Wonder Man had been renewed for a second season following its debut on Disney+. However, the project never advanced into active development. Variety reports that a writers’ room for Season 2 was never assembled, and the show’s writers have since been released to pursue other opportunities.
Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, the series offered a unique, comedy driven take on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show followed an aspiring actor with superhuman abilities navigating Hollywood alongside Ben Kingsley, who reprised his fan favorite role as Trevor Slattery.

While the series earned strong reviews from critics and even received awards recognition, Marvel Studios has reportedly shifted its television strategy toward producing fewer live action series and placing greater emphasis on quality over quantity. Wonder Man appears to be one of the casualties of that new direction.
The cancellation does not necessarily mark the end of these characters in the MCU. According to Variety’s report, sources indicate that Simon Williams, Trevor Slattery, and other characters introduced in Wonder Man could still return in future Marvel projects, even if the Disney+ series itself has ended.
Marvel Studios continues to have a packed slate ahead, including VisionQuest later this year and Avengers: Doomsday arriving in December. Whether Simon Williams finds a new place in those future stories remains to be seen.
