On Ziwe’s show, celebrity stylist Law Roach turned a simple question about his friendship with Zendaya into one of the softer moments of an otherwise unhinged sit-down.
Law Roach says he and Zendaya are “one soul sharing two bodies,” the line that opened that softer moment.
Ziwe asked Law Roach if Zendaya is his best friend, and he couldn’t land on just one label. His answer: advisor, “component” (i.e. opponent) when they fight, annoying little sister, and one soul in two bodies.
The interview covers his 2023 retirement (which he insists was real, even though Céline Dion pulled him back to style her for the Grammys), the Statue of Liberty (“a little old,” he says, “requires a lot of upkeep”), and the hat he apparently keeps Zendaya’s stylist reputation in.
Roach calls himself Scottie Pippen to Zendaya’s Michael Jordan. He’s dressed Ariana Grande, Mary J. Blige, Hunter Schaefer, Lewis Hamilton and more, and he retired, wrote a book, and came back, all inside the same year he says he was “out.”
The best-friend question is where the bit drops the act. He runs through the roles she plays for him and hopes he’s the same number of things back to her.
