Matt Damon has been spotted suited up on the set of the Daniels’ mysterious new movie, and the first look at the project is raising even more questions about what the Everything Everywhere All at Once filmmakers have planned.
New photos from the Los Angeles production show Damon wearing a colorful superhero-style costume while filming the still-untitled Universal Pictures project from Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The movie is currently operating under the reported working title Thasnagar.
The costume features a red, black and yellow design, while other performers photographed on set appear in similarly colorful outfits. The imagery has immediately drawn comparisons to Power Rangers and Japanese tokusatsu productions, something that lines up with previous reports about the unusual science-fiction project.
Despite the similarities, Thasnagar is not a Power Rangers film. The Daniels are developing an original story, with reported elements including superheroes, time travel and climate change. Universal has so far kept official plot details largely under wraps.
Damon previously offered perhaps the best indication of just how strange the movie could get while appearing on The Dan Patrick Show.

“The way they pitched it to me was: It’s The Breakfast Club meets Inception meets an anime film meets an episode of The John Oliver Show that didn’t get aired.”
He added, “So if you liked Everything Everywhere All At Once and all the wildness and all the heart, I think you’ll really like this one, too. It’s a really special project.”
The film marks Kwan and Scheinert’s first feature together since Everything Everywhere All at Once, which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Damon leads an expanding ensemble that includes Sandra Oh, Charles Melton, Sean Kaufman, John Leguizamo and Pink Pantheress. Deadline previously reported the individual cast additions, while PinkPantheress will make her feature acting debut in the film.
The newly surfaced set photos provide the clearest indication yet of what audiences might actually see when the Daniels return to the big screen. If the colorful costumes and Damon’s description are any indication, the filmmakers appear to be embracing the same kind of genre-bending ambition that made Everything Everywhere All at Once such an unexpected phenomenon.
Universal currently has the untitled Daniels film scheduled to hit theaters on November 19, 2027.
