The people alive during long-past centuries if confronted with the channelers documented during recent centuries may well have considered them as people ‘possessed’ or ‘obsessed.’ This blogger has been attentive to the history of ‘paranormal’ / ‘supernatural’ possession and obsession ever since being a teenager and obtaining an edition of The Encyclopedia of Witchcraft and Demonology (1959) by Rossell Hope Robbins, with my circumstances related in various autobiographical articles. My understanding today is that the mind of a human being who has developed a correct understanding relating to goodness and evil, ‘The Golden Rule’ and ‘Universal Laws’—such as what is usually called ‘karma’ pertaining to all decisions that oneself makes throughout life—is protected from conduct (and obsessive malign interactions) that will ultimately prove harmful and spiritually devastating to one’s ultimate goal of living a fulfilling life.

Here’s an excerpt from What Happened in Salem (Second Edition 1960) by David Levin:

Although belief in witchcraft and the Devil’s evil power was not, in the seventeenth century, restricted to any single branch of Christianity, certain tenets made the Puritan in England and America especially sensitive to Devils and witches, and frontier conditions in New England aggravated this sensitivity. The Puritans believed in the doctrine of original sin, which informed them that they were worms, dogs, potential colleagues of the Devil until the grace of God was, by God’s free gift, poured into them.

Rossell Hope Robins in his report about the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 in his Encyclopedia mentions a spiritual sentiment of the epoch that resulted with fear overpowering common sense in relation to incredible accusations: “Any traffic with Satan was treason to God . . .“

In that Preface Article mention is made —

Consistent blog readers know that this blogger is making possible John hosting and producing a consciousness-expanding “Investigating Paranormal Evidence” with myself providing consultation on a voluntary and nonpaid pro bono basis. Something that makes John so unusual is his unusual ability to express himself without constraint and be ’emotionally correct’ in a candid manner. Even once while engaging in an unusual bout of lying (as mentioned in one article) it was readily apparent that he simply was unable to fathom the importance of the predicament and respond in a reasonable way so he felt his only alternative was the respond after reframing the circumstances altogether. He became more honest thereafter, simply admitting: “I’m scared.” (article)

It is valid to consider that there are fearful aspects of human mortality. As with the lowly worm crawling in the soil at one’s feet, moment-to-moment our circumstances are dependent upon the thoughts arising from the subconscious mind and synchronicity of all that comes into the path of daily experienced life. In one way of looking at earthly conditions, the size of the humans in comparison to worms is scant in comparison with the size of the universe.

‘Possession’ and ‘Obsession’ Phenomena of the Past

During
the teaching
career of Barbara Rosen (1929-2018), she relocated from England to the
United States and taught English at the University of Connecticut from
1960 until her retirement in 1999. Her book reporting about the annals
of witchcraft in England
was first published in 1972. An edition with a new preface brought the
statement about various recent critical approaches to witchcraft
documentation, ” . . . it has become increasingly clear that no one
approach is adequate to the complex phenomenon of witchcraft because
each leaves out of account important elements crucial to other
approaches.” Here are some of her overview statements about
‘possession’ and ‘obsession’ phenomena.

The
term ‘possession’ covers a group of symptoms which can be considered
theologically, medically or psychoanalytically, and attached to
different theories and explanations in each case. For the present we
shall use the term to cover the symptoms rather than any one
interpretation of them.

Signs of possession are of several kinds;
physical convulsions like those of epilepsy and the exercise of unusual
strength, alternating with apparent paralysis and collapse: mental
disturbances, including hallucinations and variations in personality,
sometimes accompanied by poltergeist activity or apparent extra-sensory
perceptions: violent reactions against the patient’s usual religious
beliefs, and equally violent repentance.

The patient may feel
himself tormented by evil beings outside his body but in control of it:
he may be obsessed, a state in which the original personality seems to
co-exist with another being which compels him to thoughts, ideas and
actions repugnant to him: or he may be truly possessed, a state in which
the intrusive personality completely displaces the original for long
periods, so that the sufferer seems to have no knowledge or recollection
of what happened during these episodes. Most English cases are of the
first two kinds, but all are loosely referred to as ‘possession.’

Possession
by the God one serves, which produces many of the same symptoms in an
approved setting, has usually been regarded as a desired goal; hundreds
of nominally Christian sects in Africa (and in remote parts of America)
still regard trance, reached through convulsions, as ‘the descent of the
Holy Spirit’! and structure their worship towards the attainment of
this state. At the same time, those mental illnesses which cause
uncontrolled outbreaks of similar behaviour outside this approved
setting, or involve expressions of unorthodoxy, are ascribed to
spontaneous possession by evil spirits, as they have been since the
beginning of history.

Secular medicine has always attempted to
expel the demon by a variety of devices aimed at making the patient’s
body uncomfortable and so uninhabitable (unfortunately these sometimes
killed the patient); religious treatment prescribed the spiritual
violence of prayer and exorcism. This tradition descended into Christian
civilisation and was perpetuated by dogmas which in effect proclaimed
that a child was born subject to the power of the Evil One and could
only be delivered by a form of exorcism and baptism into the true
faith. The rites of exorcism, and baptismal exorcism are still printed
in many Catholic manuals.

The Preface Article
for this ongoing series attests to the importance of readers
maintaining a focus upon the subject of oneself continuously
differentiating between what are the positive / ‘good’ and what are the
negative / ‘bad’ or evil polarity associations for one’s manifested
actions. Universal laws regarding an individual’s existence as an
aspect of spiritual Oneness have been articulated in documented

Once this cognitive orientation is maintained, how logical it is to
discern how the influences and alternatives that may be discerned will
influence all that will come into manifestation for a human being on the
path to either experiences of greater love or on the reactive path

and/or gaining egocentric prestige in ways that may be harmful or

her ability the function assumed until the time comes for you to cross
the border. The task becomes easier when you are aware of the
guardianship; it becomes difficult when you are unaware of it. There is
only one guide, but many helpers. The guardian angel knows before he
assumes his task what lies ahead of him and does not have a free choice
in the matter either. Not everyone can say I will be the guardian to
this or that person. Ours is a very organised world.

Our
work is to give that which has a purpose, a significance, so that,
while it demonstrates the existence of law, it enables comfort to be
given and knowledge to be spread. Our work is not only to reveal the
existence of laws beyond the physical, but to reveal truths of the
spirit . . .

The
seed of the Great Spirit is planted within every human soul . . . but
you are the gardener and it depends on your efforts whether and when the
fullness of the flower is able to express itself . . . All life belongs
to the Great White Spirit, and no one must take it, in whatever form it

. . The supreme guiding principle is love which expresses itself in
service, compassion, humility, tolerance and co-operation, seeking
harmony wherever it can. Love is the greatest power in the universe . .

principles. Each soul is responsible for what it does.

far as we may conceive it, creation was the giving forth of energy from

‘Possession’ and ‘Obsession’ Phenomena Today

It seems clear to me that our celebrity ‘Everyman’ Bel John is obsessed with gaining video clips for advertising remuneration for the content of YouTube and TikTok videos. His hundreds of past videos have made him well-known by a vast many people who frequent these social media websites; however, one may wonder as does this blogger ‘Is he fulfilling the basic need of developing an understanding of life so that it will be fulfilling and there won’t be any grief caused by irrational fears having held one from achieving all that one might?’ And, remember, ‘Bell John’ is a surrogate / ‘everyman’ for everyone else, including you the reader.

In the previous blog article “Afterlife Experiences of People Who Find Themselves in the Spirit World’s Lower Regions”, transcendental communicator via automatic writing ‘André Luiz’ through Francisco Cândido ‘Chico’ Xavier (1910-2002) is quoted speaking about treatment for ‘obsession’ provided to a woman during an interlude within the channeled book Action and Reaction (1956), an account about what life can be like for people upon transitioning from an earthly life to the ascended realm.

A poor woman burst into convulsive tears nearby, interrupting our friend.

With clenched fists, the wretch complained:

feelings and decisions arising from the thoughts that one chooses to act
upon.

Examples of
the usefulness of developing one’s intellect is demonstrated, for
example, with the useless addictions of either drinking alcoholic
beverages or smoking / vaping. During my own upbringing, my mother was
an alcoholic and my father was a chain smoker and the physical toll upon
each of them eventually followed a predictable course with Ellen
suffering from end-stage kidney disease and Paul passing over due to
lung cancer. One may perhaps recognize that the same negative
decision-making process that brought the legalization of marijuana in
some places may be compared with the immoral corporate thinking process
where individual workers fail to discern or accept responsibility for
the personal actions that they allow themselves to choose in obeisance
to the company hierarchy.

When not in calculated control of one’s emotions, a person is subject to angry and destructive urges. Throughout my life I was interested in the paranormal and selected these subjects to read about in my earliest teenage years. Perhaps the life of someone choosing metaphysical and paranormal exploration brings about later experiences. A strange memory from my younger years is something previously mentioned —

My
most
bizarre memory from this period involved my mother after she helped
Mike and me to
purchase our first car. We chose the American Motors Pacer with it’s
roomy and unusual ovoid shape, the model that would later become most
famous as the vehicle known as the Mirthmobile in “Wayne’s World” [one of the movies this blogger helped publicize during my career in Hollywood]. There was one difficulty with the new car and this was that it’s size
and windows that made it such a pleasure to drive made it extremely
difficult to park in the garage. Whenever Ellen would be a passenger
in a car, she would scream and yell that I was going to have an accident
so when she said that I was going to scrape the side of the car when
trying to park there was no way for me to know that this time she was
correct. Her almost constant anger and hysterics were difficult to
live with and on this occasion there was a startling ramification. The
next day, after parking the car, I
looked up to our apartment window and saw something astonishing. The
figure who momentarily peeked out I knew was Ellen but she seemed to be
wearing
some kind of bizarre mask that I can only compare to deformed characters
I would later see in the movies “The Elephant Man” and “Mask.” Of
course, once upstairs I discovered that this was no mask and her face
had become startlingly misshapen. Her face didn’t stay in that
astonishing condition for very long yet it didn’t seem to be just “a bad
case of hives,” which was how Ellen explained it.
