Executive produced by Michael B. Jordan, The Greatest is the first officially authorized scripted series based on the life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. The limited series premieres on November 4 and aims to tell the remarkable story of the man born Cassius Clay, following his rise from a young Louisville boxer to one of the most influential athletes and cultural icons in history.
Rather than focusing solely on Ali’s dominance inside the ring, the trailer highlights the personal struggles, defining relationships, and pivotal moments that shaped his extraordinary life. From his transformation into Muhammad Ali to his friendships, family, faith, and activism, the series appears to be taking a deeply human approach to one of sports’ greatest legends.

Newcomer Jaalen Best steps into the iconic role of Ali, with a supporting cast that includes Giovanni Ribisi as legendary trainer Angelo Dundee, Michael Ealy as Malcolm X, Omari Hardwick as Cassius Clay Sr., Dana Gourrier as Odessa Clay, and Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston.
The series is created by Ben Watkins, who also serves as showrunner and directs the opening episodes. Jordan executive produces through his Outlier Society banner alongside Lonnie Ali, Muhammad Ali’s widow, making this the first scripted adaptation created with the full cooperation of Ali’s estate.
The teaser itself is less interested in showcasing boxing spectacle than establishing Ali’s larger-than-life presence.
