Tom Holland may still be swinging through New York as Peter Parker, but the actor has revealed that Marvel Studios and Sony are already thinking about Spider-Man’s future beyond his time in the suit.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Holland confirmed that there is a long-term plan in place for eventually handing the role over to another actor. Rather than treating the transition as something that will happen years down the road, Holland said the conversations have been ongoing since Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“There’s a whole plan. It’s laid out. I have a really clear vision for passing on the baton. I think it’s really exciting.”
Holland explained that one of the things he looks forward to most is helping guide the next actor stepping into the iconic role, much like Robert Downey Jr. helped him during the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I’d love to be able to do for someone what Robert Downey Jr. did for me.”

Although Holland didn’t reveal exactly who will inherit the mantle or when that day might come, he made it clear that he hopes to remain involved in shaping Spider-Man’s future. Fans have long speculated that Miles Morales could eventually become the MCU’s next web-slinger, though Marvel and Sony have yet to officially announce those plans.
For now, Holland’s focus remains on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but his comments offer an intriguing glimpse into Marvel’s long-term vision. Rather than ending Peter Parker’s story abruptly, it appears the studio wants to create a meaningful transition that honors the character while preparing audiences for a new generation of Spider-Man.
Whether that next hero is Miles Morales or another version of the beloved wall-crawler, Holland seems determined to make sure Spider-Man is left in good hands.
