What is “Liquid Love”?©

Earlier this month many of us observed “Valentine’s Day” and, more importantly, the emotion of Love (Romantic Love for most people) that day commemorates. Although the flowers have wilted and are long gone, I’m still nibbling on the chocolates that so often accompany that celebration. All “fine-and-dandy,” but Romantic Love is but a drop in the bucket of LOVE, especially in a spiritual sense. Quite often these days, we hear about “Liquid Love,” a term used almost exclusively by Esther Hicks (channel for Abraham, the “collective consciousness of Spirit”). But just What is “Liquid Love?” How does it relate to the teachings of other spiritual teachers?

Quite simply, “liquid love” is Abraham’s term for the physical sensation people feel when they allow pure Source energy to flow through them — often described as warm, euphoric, and vibrationally aligned. For example, Abraham describes it as:
• “When you allow the energy to flow unresisted, you feel it as a kind of liquid love moving through your body.” (The Law of Attraction, 2006) . . . “It is a delicious sensation — what we call liquid love — that washes over you when you are in complete allowing.” (Ask and It Is Given, 2004) . . . “The feeling of alignment is warm and flowing, a gentle stream of love that moves through you.” (Ask and It Is Given, 2004) . . . And, in response to a question about sensations during meditation: “What you are describing — that warm, tingly, flowing feeling — is what we call liquid love.” (Atlanta, GA, 1999)

According to Abraham, “liquid love” refers to the pure, high-vibrational essence of Source Energy (God / Universal Intelligence / All-That-Is / etc.) that flows through every individual. It is described as the natural state of your Inner Being and the foundational substance of the universe. It represents a state of pure, positive, and unconditional love that is constantly available, fluid, and non-resistant. It is the infinite, stable, and ecstatic nature of divine energy:
• “You are liquid love in physical bodies, wanting more than life itself, because it is life itself, to adore the vessel that’s you through which this Source Energy flows.”
• “It feels like liquid love, it feels like joy. It is rapturous, it is orgasmic, it ripples through your body, it is ecstasy. That’s what Source Energy is and feels like!”
• “Who you really are is pure consciousness, liquid love, Source Energy. Who you really are is flowing to you and through you — ALWAYS.”

Sounds pretty straightforward. But no other teacher that I know of speaks quite like that. In different words, surely there are other descriptions of the same thing. Yup. Of course!

Maitreya (Channeled by Margaret McElroy) frequently discusses similar themes of Universal Energy, Source Consciousness, and Divine Love. He doesn’t use the specific phrasing of Abraham-Hicks, but the core philosophy of both teachers lines up with the idea of a flowing, high-vibrational essence that constitutes our true nature. For example, they agree on the following:

The Flow of Energy: Both suggest that the Universe is made of a singular, “loving substance” (what Abraham calls Liquid Love) that we can either allow or resist.

Alignment: Both teachings emphasize that our primary “work” is to get into a state of vibrational harmony (Allowing) with Source energy to experience peace and manifestation.

The Inner Being: There is a shared focus on the “Higher Self” or “Inner Being” as the part of us that remains eternally connected to this stream of Love.

So, what does Alignment with Higher Self feel like according to Maitreya? It is experienced as a state of profound peace, unconditional love, and joy, and is characterized by the loss of fear and desire as the soul takes control from the ego / Lower Self. Maitreya describes it as a high-vibration state of “being in the flow,” where one is detached from outcomes and intuitively guided toward a better life with a quiet confidence, knowing that all needs are met.

Similarly, Paramhansa Yogananda (1893-1952; Indian yogi, author, and spiritual teacher) described Alignment with Source Energy (what he calls Cosmic Consciousness) as a state of feeling:

Inexhaustible Vitality & Profound, Ever-New Joy “Give your attention to the Almighty Power that is giving you life and strength and wisdom. Pray that unceasing truth flow into your mind, unceasing strength flow into your body, and unceasing joy flow into your soul.”

Fearlessness and Even-Mindedness: When aligned, one feels calm, “fearless” and “made of the substance of God,” allowing a yogi to “stand unshaken midst the crash of breaking worlds (a.k.a. life).”

The State of “Sparkling Life”: ”Inspiration, creative power, and energy flow into you when you attune [align] yourself to the Infinite Mind during meditation.”

Upward Flow (Non-Attachment): Alignment is marked by an upward movement of energy toward the higher chakras (kundalini awakening), characterized by joy and expansion; intense mental focus; magnetic, positive emotions; and a conscious, thrilling sense of unity with God. Disconnecting from Source feels like a downward, draining movement.

In summary, What is “Liquid Love”? It is simplyAlignment with Higher Self. By whatever name you choose to call it, it is the purpose of human life on the earth plane. There are many paths up the mountain, but the “truest” paths converge at a single summit. The choice of path is up to you, a topic we will take up from another perspective in next month’s newsletter.

So, where does this leave us? I believe that “the Devil is in the (numerous) details,” but Truth (Wisdom) is singular even though it may wear many different names. As William Shakespeare (1564-1616; English dramatist & poet) wrote:
• “What’s in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” (Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene II).

Yes, there are different names and the details are certainly a bit different, but when they all converge on the same underlying Truth, I call that Truth “Wisdom”. Their differences enrich my understanding of Truth, and their convergence increases my confidence that I am in the “right space” for my own soul evolution.

Less eloquently expressed than Shakespeare, I have long believed that:
• “Wisdom is where you find it. It doesn’t matter who said it or where it was written, only whether it helps you to grow.” ~ Dennis L. Dossett (Dancing with the Energy – Book 1: The Foundations of Conscious Living)

Finding a practical way to Wisdom is the goal and purpose of Conscious Living, the step-by step process of becoming the Master of your life rather than being mastered by life. You don’t have to think about it constantly; you have only to monitor your emotions and replace any remaining negativity with positive feelings, a.k.a. Alignment with Higher Self.
