A Simple Recipe for Raising Your Vibration©
The nice thing about this recipe is that it is very basic and very adaptable. Much like a multi- course meal (appetizer, salad, entree, dessert, etc.), you can tailor it to every area of your life (abundance, relationships, health, etc.). And like any great recipe, the choice of ingredients and adherence to proven steps makes all the difference between Resistance to growth (change) and Allowing your life energies to flow freely, unhindered. So, what is Resistance to raising your vibration? Very simply, habit, routine, unconsciously choosing to get in your own way and remain “stuck” in your comfort zone. And what is Allowing? Very simply, raising your vibration, making progress on your spiritual path by consciously choosing Alignment with Higher Self (Conscious Living). So, how do you do that? Here is a simple recipe to help you Align:
Ingredients:
You already have the ingredients on hand, available right now for your use. So, what are they?
1. Your Thoughts. You have heard it said many times, “Your thoughts create your reality.” What that really means is that your thoughts determine the quality of your life experience — as well as Your progress on Your spiritual path. Your thoughts may be relatively neutral or loaded with emotions. We’ll explore that later.
2. Your Beliefs. A belief is just a thought you think over and over until it becomes a form of habit; you don’t consciously think about it anymore. It has become an automatic set of responses (thoughts, behaviors, and associated emotions) to both specific and general situations or people. Moreover, beliefs are far more endowed (intensity, strength) with the third ingredient than are simple thoughts. In essence, your beliefs are your thoughts on steroids, your truth, which is why they are so important.
3. Your Emotions. If both thoughts and beliefs have emotional components, why list your emotions as a separate ingredient? Good question. Because you have the opportunity to use your emotions independently to enhance your recipe’s effectiveness! While emotional intensity drives your thoughts (and especially your beliefs), extreme intensity can lock you into rigid dogma and stall your spiritual progress. That is why you must examine and use all three ingredients together when preparing your dish (life). That is where the recipe’s procedures come into play.
Procedure:
As in any recipe, you’ll get better (and tastier) results by choosing higher quality ingredients. But it’s not a matter of going to the Farmer’s Market for the freshest, organic ingredients. All your thoughts and emotions are available. It is your choice as to the quality of ingredients you use in your recipe.
Most people make that choice through habit and conditioning — a kind of “sloppy living” where choices aren’t made intentionally. Conscious Living means taking full responsibility for choosing the thoughts, beliefs, and emotions that shape your recipe (life) because no one else can do it for you.
Step 1: Start by sorting and choosing your ingredients carefully. What determines the quality of your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions? It is very easy to determine that by exploring and testing the nature of the emotions involved. How do your thoughts and beliefs feel (their emotional content and intensity)?
I hesitate to write about “good feeling” thoughts because that concept is easily distorted in practice. For example, many people take great delight in bashing certain politicians (and those who support them) to get frustrations off their chest. Indeed, that can satisfy the ego, but do those thoughts/beliefs feel uplifting, more attuned to Alignment with Higher Self? While this satisfies the ego, it isn’t truly uplifting or Aligned with your Higher Self. Uplifting thoughts are a higher vibrational frequency than the temporary relief of venting. Venting does not count as a high-quality ingredient.
Step 2: Cut out and throw away any thoughts and beliefs that fail the test of feeling uplifting — in Alignment with Higher Self. How do you do that? Let’s look at a critically important factor in making these decisions:
Discernment versus Judgment
Discernment involves carefully considering the situation, seeking to understand different perspectives, and making a thoughtful decision, often with compassion and empathy. It tends to foster growth and wisdom
Judgment, on the other hand, tends to be more decisive and often involves quick, critical, gut reactions often leading to labeling or condemnation. It hinders understanding and creates division, often leading to conflict.
• “Discernment is not the same as judgment; discernment means that you have an open heart to accept everyone and everything as it is, without judgment and criticism. … Discernment requires listening to your inner voice, through intuition, and learning to trust the feelings in your heart. … Discernment also means that you take full responsibility for your own choices and decision-making, and do not blame others for your own problems.” ~ Maitreya (channeled by Margaret McElroy; Wisdom Card #22)
• “You are the creator of your own reality. You are the vibrator of your own being. You are the discerner, and decider, and accomplisher of your own point of attraction.” ~ Abraham (collective consciousness of Spirit as channeled by Esther Hicks)
Maitreya teaches that we are here (on the earth plane) to learn to detach from the emotional body. This does not mean denying our emotions (a very real part of our humanity), but learn to control them, to not be ruled or governed by our emotions. That is why Conscious Living helps one to become the Master of their life rather than being mastered by life. Non-judgement is detachment. Maitreya reminds us that “Detachment is one of the hardest lessons to learn in the journey of spiritual development” (Wisdom Card #20). That is very true, but it is also at the core of this simple recipe for raising one’s vibration.
• “When you have an emotional reaction to what you see, you are judging. That is your signal that you have an issue inside of yourself — with yourself — not with the other person. If you react to evil, look inside yourself for the very thing that so agitates you, and you will find it. If it were not there, you would simply discern, act appropriately, and move on.” ~ Gary Zukav (American spiritual teacher & author)
