Bigfoot is about to trade blurry forest sightings for a full blown revenge rampage.
Badlands has acquired Jacob Rainer’s spec script Wildman, a new action horror project being described as “John Wick meets Bigfoot.”
And judging by the premise, that description is surprisingly accurate.
Wildman follows Bigfoot after his younger brother is killed by hunters. Rather than disappearing back into the wilderness, the legendary creature sets out to recover his brother’s body while hunting down and killing everyone responsible.
Essentially, someone messed with the wrong Bigfoot.
The project has an especially interesting connection to the movie being used to describe it. Badlands is the genre label run by Scott Strauss and operates under Thunder Road, the production company behind the John Wick franchise. Thunder Road is led by producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.

Rainer’s road to getting Wildman picked up is also a story of its own.
The screenplay gained attention after Rainer entered it into the Blood and Ink horror screenplay competition from ScriptShadow. The script was highlighted by ScriptShadow founder Carson Reeves, which helped it catch the attention of Jake Wagner of Alibi Entertainment.
That eventually led to Rainer landing his first screenwriting deal.
There is currently no director or cast attached to Wildman, and a release date has not been announced.
Still, a brutal Bigfoot revenge movie backed by the company responsible for John Wick might be one of the easiest movie pitches to get behind.
The hunters may want to start running.
