Forgiveness – The Key to Freedom
by Jean Luo
One of the greatest misconceptions about forgiveness is that it is something we do for another person. In truth, forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves.
Many people carry old wounds for years, even decades. They may have been hurt by a parent, betrayed by a friend, abandoned by a loved one, mistreated by a colleague, or disappointed by a spiritual teacher. Some carry anger toward people who are still living, while others continue to hold resentment toward souls who have already passed into the Spirit World.
What many do not realize is that anger, hatred, and resentment create energetic cords that bind us to the very experiences we wish to escape. Although time may pass, the emotional energy remains trapped within our hearts, minds, and bodies. The event may be over, but the pain continues because we keep revisiting it through our thoughts and emotions.
Forgiveness is not about denying what happened. It does not mean that the other person’s actions were acceptable. It does not mean forgetting the lesson or allowing harmful behavior to continue. Forgiveness simply means releasing the emotional burden we have been carrying. When we forgive, we free ourselves from the chains of the past.
Anger is a natural human emotion. It can arise when we feel hurt, rejected, misunderstood, or treated unfairly. However, when anger becomes a permanent resident within the heart, it begins to affect every aspect of our lives.
Unresolved anger can cloud our judgment, disturb our peace, affect our relationships, and even influence our physical health. The body often reflects what the soul is carrying. Emotional wounds that remain unhealed can manifest tension, fatigue, chronic stress, anxiety, physical discomfort, or physical dis-ease.
Spiritually, anger acts like a heavy weight that prevents us from fully experiencing the love, joy, and freedom that our souls seek.
Hatred is even more destructive because it keeps us energetically tied to another soul. Whether that soul is aware of it or not, a connection remains active through the emotional energy we continue to invest.
Forgiveness is an act of spiritual strength. Many people believe forgiveness is a sign of weakness. In reality, forgiveness requires tremendous courage. It takes strength to release the desire to be right. It takes strength to release the need for revenge. It takes strength to surrender judgment and allow Divine Law to handle what is beyond our control.
Forgiveness is not passive. It is an active choice to stop feeding the pain and start nurturing peace. Every time we choose forgiveness, we reclaim a piece of our personal power.
Sometimes the most difficult forgiveness involves someone who is no longer physically present. Many people carry unresolved grief, guilt, anger, or disappointment toward parents, partners, family members, or friends who have crossed into Spirit. Because there is no longer an opportunity for physical conversation, the emotional wound may seem impossible to heal.
Yet the soul never loses its ability to communicate. You can speak to a departed loved one through prayer, meditation, journaling, or simply by speaking from your heart. You can express everything you never had the chance to say. You can release the hurt and offer forgiveness.
The soul hears. And perhaps more importantly, your own soul hears.
Healing begins the moment you choose to let go.
Every soul is learning. Every soul makes mistakes. Every soul carries wounds, fears, limitations, and lessons. This does not excuse harmful behavior, but it helps us understand that many people act from their own pain and unconsciousness.
Thus, replacing anger with compassion will allow us to see beyond the behavior and recognize the soul beneath it. When understanding replaces judgment, forgiveness becomes possible. It is a path of freedom.
Imagine placing every hurt, disappointment, betrayal, and resentment into the hands of the Divine. Imagine no longer carrying the burden. Imagine waking up each day lighter, freer, and more at peace. This is the gift of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not something we do once. It is often a process. Some wounds heal quickly, while others require patience and repeated acts of release. Each time you choose forgiveness, you move closer to your true nature, which is love.
As Maitreya teaches, the path of spiritual growth is not found through holding onto pain. It is found through opening the heart and allowing love to flow once again.
The moment you release hatred and anger, you create space for peace, healing, and Divine Grace to enter your life.
A Message from Maitreya
Hatred and anger bind you to the past. Forgiveness frees you. You do not forgive because another soul deserves it. You forgive because your soul deserves peace.
Release the burden you have been carrying. Allow love to heal what anger cannot.
When you choose forgiveness, you open the door to greater peace, wisdom, and spiritual freedom. ~ Maitreya
