Meghan Markle built her whole post-royal brand in California: the Netflix show, the As Ever products, the lifestyle empire. Now she’s moving back to England, and the pull may be the one thing she gave up when she married Harry — a script.
Meghan has been offered a role in an upcoming project based in the U.K., according to News.com.au, and sources close to the Sussexes haven’t denied it.
The part is reportedly a role in Netflix’s “The Gentlemen,” the crime series made by Guy Ritchie. A spin-off of Ritchie’s 2019 film, the show follows an aristocratic family whose sprawling English estate turns out to be sitting atop a criminal empire — a fittingly British world for Meghan’s return to scripted work. Neither Netflix nor Ritchie’s team has confirmed her involvement.
The report landed Friday morning, two days after the couple announced they’re leaving California after six years and returning to England for what’s described as an “extended period.” Archie and Lilibet start school there in September.
Meghan hasn’t led a project since “Suits,” where she played Rachel Zane across seven seasons from 2011 to 2018. She stepped back from acting after marrying Harry that year, though she’s got a cameo as herself coming in the Amazon MGM comedy “Close Personal Friends” alongside Brie Larson and Lily Collins.
A dramatic role in a Ritchie series would mark a sharper turn — her first real return to acting since leaving “Suits,” and a very different register from the lifestyle brand she’s built stateside.
The couple are keeping their Montecito home and don’t plan to move Archewell or As Ever across the Atlantic. They’ll stay non-working royals, a status they’ve held since stepping down from official duties in 2020.
