Trusting the Quiet Knowing
by Alan McElroy
When we do our fairs and I give an Aura Reading, no matter what colors show up, one of the main themes I use to unlock the attributes of those colors is whether the person is using their intuition. That invisible connection from across the veil can assist us in every aspect of our lives. This opens up a wide range of discussions. Sometimes the person sitting across from me has very little understanding of intuition, while other times it becomes a rather humbling experience because they are so psychically tuned in that they should probably be giving me the reading!
In the end, this incredible gift we all possess can only be developed through personal experience. We learn by noticing what comes through, acting on it, and eventually learning to trust it. You and I could receive exactly the same message, but, and there is always a but; our past lives, childhoods, personalities, and life experiences are unique to each of us. Because of that, how we understand or interpret an intuitive thought or message can be completely different. That does not necessarily mean the message was wrong. Sometimes we simply do not yet understand what we have been given.
I often tell a story about Margaret at an event in New Zealand. The people in the audience had paid their $40 hoping the psychic would give them a message. With her intuitive gift, Margaret gave her messages with incredible ease. But throughout the session, she kept being drawn to one older lady in the audience without ever saying anything to her. Margaret finished her final reading, and the little old lady raised her hand. “Are you sure you don’t have anything for me?” she asked. Margaret replied, “You know, ma’am, I’ve been drawn to you all night long, but every time I look at you, all I get is two milk bottles, and I didn’t know what to do with it.” The lady immediately replied, “Ah, that was my dear husband, Bert. He was a milkman for 40 years!” There were plenty of Ahs and laughter around the room. Margaret enjoyed the lighter moment, that was very much her personality.
But then she turned it into a teaching moment. She said, “Actually, I kind of failed the test on that one. I was given a piece of information, and just because I didn’t understand it, I didn’t pass it on. Remember, we’re all just messengers. We don’t always have to understand what is given to us; we just need to learn to trust our intuition.”
That lesson has stayed with me. From personal experience, we all know it is not always easy to follow that gut feeling, inner knowing, or intuitive thought that seems to arrive from nowhere. Usually, within seconds, we hand it over to the logical mind. And the logical mind is very good at explaining why we should ignore it! Fear comes in. Doubt comes in. Logic comes in. We tell ourselves it is silly, meaningless, or just our imagination. Sometimes it only takes about two picoseconds, and the logical mind has killed the thought.
A funny example happened at our last fair. For some unknown reason, a delivery driver had left a little dog biscuit on our front step with our packages. We had absolutely no idea why it was there, we have no animals, but we brought it inside and put it on one of the tables by the couch. The next morning, we were loaded up and getting ready to leave for the fair when I suddenly felt prompted to look down at that little dog biscuit. My first thought was, “I should put that in my pocket.” And then my logical mind immediately dismissed it. Why would I take a dog biscuit to a fair? So, I left it there. We arrived, started setting up, and discovered that the people in the booth right next to us had a brand-new little puppy. I had a little chuckle.
Maybe there really was a purpose for that dog biscuit. Perhaps it was simply Spirit testing whether Alan actually practices what he preaches… I mean, teaches!
The intuitive connection does not always arrive with flashing lights and a booming voice from above. Quite often it is subtle. A thought. A feeling. A knowing. A sudden urge to do something that makes absolutely no logical sense at the time. The challenge is learning to recognize that quiet communication before the logical mind talks us out of it.
Message from Maitreya
Intuition is the quiet communication of the soul and Spirit working with you. Do not dismiss what comes simply because you cannot understand it. You are not always required to know why something has been given to you. Trust develops through experience. Listen to the small promptings, acknowledge them, and allow life to show you, their meaning. The more you trust the inner knowing, the clearer the pathway of communication can become.
Maitreya Quote
“Each soul has their own path, own vibration, own ideas, and an inner ‘knowing’ of what to do. If they follow this intuition, they will be led and guided every step of the way of their lives to fulfill their destiny and fulfill their lives.” – Maitreya
Trust me, the connection is real. Try paying a little more attention this month to those quiet knowings, feelings, thoughts, and nudges that seem to come from nowhere. You do not always have to understand them. Sometimes you simply need to acknowledge them and see what happens. It may be those from across the veil doing exactly what they have always tried to do; assist you on your journey.
Have a great month!
Love and Light,
Alan
