Try to Stay Focused on YOU!
It is hard to believe August is already here—and appropriately, things seem to be heating up, both literally and energetically.
Those who follow astrology have probably heard a great deal about the Lunar Nodes shifting into Aquarius and Leo, the tension between Jupiter and Pluto, and the strong Fire and Air energy influencing the collective. Whether or not we understand every astrological detail, many of us can feel that something is stirring. There is movement, intensity, uncertainty, and a sense that change is accelerating around us. It is easy to become pulled into fear, anger, confusion, or the emotional drama unfolding around us. We can spend so much time watching what everyone else is doing that we forget to ask what our own soul is trying to show us. We are all part of the collective, but we are also individual souls with our own lessons, choices, and journey.
The question is: How can we best use the energy currently at play? We can begin by remembering that our experience is shaped by our mindset and perspective. The challenge is not to become distracted by all the craziness happening around us, but to remain centered in our own lives.
Stay Focused on Your Journey
The challenge is to stay focused on you and your journey. Do not allow the distractions of the outside world to hijack your plans. It is very easy for an emotional reaction to take you down a tangent or for fear to paralyze your aspirations. We need to remain aware of what is happening around us without allowing it to determine how we live our lives. In late July, Seattle experienced a mass shooting at a community festival. Three people—ages nineteen, forty-four, and fifty-six—were killed. Four others were injured, including a two-year-old little boy. The tragedy felt especially close to home because we had participated in a festival in Tacoma the previous day, and we have several more events planned throughout the summer. Naturally, an event such as this can create fear. It can make us question whether we should continue putting ourselves into public spaces or doing the things we feel guided to do. While we need to be sensible and aware of our surroundings, we cannot allow the actions of others to dictate our journey. Does continuing forward sometimes take us outside our comfort zone? Yes.
But as Maitreya often said: “There is no learning in the comfort zone.”
If we allow fear to make all our decisions, we may feel temporarily safe, but we also risk closing the door on experiences, relationships, and opportunities that are part of our learning. Fear often presents itself as protection. It tells us not to try, not to speak, not to travel, not to trust, and not to move forward. Yet many of the most important experiences in our lives begin when we take one step beyond what feels familiar.
Processing the Current Energy
I do not know about you, but the current energy is affecting me—and many of those around me. There is tiredness, body aches, irritation, emotional sensitivity, and confusion. It feels as though the cosmos is generating an enormous amount of energy that we are all trying to process and understand.
Old emotions can suddenly rise to the surface. Situations we thought we had resolved may appear again. Our patience can become shorter, our bodies can feel heavier, and our minds can struggle to remain focused. During times such as these, it is easy to lose ourselves. We can become consumed by world events, other people’s struggles, political disagreements, social media, or situations over which we have no control. The more emotional energy we give to these distractions, the further we move away from our own center. I am doing my best to remain focused on my current plans and on the journey in front of me. I can have compassion and empathy for those experiencing hardship without becoming lost in their experience. This does not mean turning away from suffering or becoming indifferent. It means recognizing that every person is walking a unique soul journey—one that we may not fully understand from our human perspective.
Our hearts can go out to others. We can offer assistance when we are able. We can send love, healing, and compassion. But we must also remember that we cannot live another person’s life, learn their lessons, or walk their path for them.
Our responsibility is to remain present in our own lives and ask:
What is mine to do? What am I allowing to distract me? Am I moving forward with my plans, or am I allowing fear to take control? Am I responding from my heart, or reacting from emotion?
The world will always provide distractions. There will always be situations capable of triggering fear, anger, sadness, or uncertainty. The lesson is not to ignore what is happening around us. The lesson is to remain centered within ourselves while it is happening.
Message from Maitreya
Each person on the Earth plane has their own journey. You may walk beside another person. You may offer love, guidance, friendship, or assistance. However, you cannot walk their journey for them, nor can they walk your journey for you. Much of humanity’s emotional suffering comes from focusing on what other people are doing. You watch their choices. You judge their behavior. You worry about their future. You become angry because they do not live as you believe they should live. In doing this, you leave your own path and enter theirs.
Your journey is not outside of you. It does not belong to your family, your government, your friends, or those whose actions create fear around you. Your journey belongs to you. You came to the Earth plane to learn from your own experiences and emotional reactions. Every time another person triggers fear, anger, jealousy, judgment, or resentment within you, you are being shown something about yourself.
The other person is the mirror. The emotion belongs to you. Ask yourself, “Why am I reacting this way? What is this situation trying to show me?” Do not be ashamed of the emotion. Simply observe it. Become aware of it, and then choose whether you wish to continue giving it energy. You do not overcome fear by hiding from life. You overcome fear by understanding it. You do not overcome anger by pretending it does not exist. You overcome anger by recognizing where it comes from and choosing not to allow it to control you. The Earth plane is filled with distraction. There will always be another crisis, disagreement, tragedy, or situation calling for your emotional attention.
You can be compassionate without losing yourself. You can care without carrying another person’s burden. You can be informed without becoming consumed. You can help without taking responsibility for another soul’s journey. Stay focused on your life. Stay focused on your choices. Stay focused on what your soul is asking you to learn. When the world around you becomes louder, become quieter within yourself. It is within the silence that you will hear your own truth.
Guidance from Sister Aurora
When you feel overwhelmed by the energy around you, return to what is immediately in front of you. Do not try to solve the entire world. Do not try to understand every event. Do not try to carry the pain of everyone around you.
Ask instead:
What needs my attention today? Perhaps it is your health. Perhaps it is a conversation you have been avoiding. Perhaps it is a creative idea waiting to be expressed. Perhaps it is a project you keep postponing because you are waiting to feel completely ready. Perhaps it is simply the need to rest.
Remaining focused on yourself does not mean becoming selfish. It means becoming responsible for your own energy. When you continually focus on other people, you give your power away. Your emotional state becomes dependent upon what they say, what they do, and whether they behave as you expect. Your peace then belongs to them rather than to you.
Bring your energy home. Notice when your thoughts begin traveling into fear about the future. Notice when you replay conversations from the past. Notice when you become consumed by news, social media, or the opinions of others.
Gently bring your awareness back to the present moment. Take a breath. Feel your feet on the ground. Ask yourself what is real in this moment—not what might happen tomorrow, but what is happening now.
Most fear exists in anticipation. The mind creates a story about what may happen, and the body responds as though it is already happening. You can interrupt this pattern by returning to the present.
You do not need to have every answer before taking your next step. You only need enough courage to take the step that is in front of you. Trust that the next step will reveal itself after you have taken the first one.
Closing Thoughts
There is a great deal happening in the world, and the coming months will undoubtedly bring more change, uncertainty, and emotional intensity.
We cannot control everything happening around us. We can control how much energy we give it. We can choose whether fear becomes our master or our teacher. We can choose whether we react emotionally or pause and respond consciously. We can choose whether we abandon our plans or continue taking one step at a time.
Have compassion for others. Offer help where you can. Remain aware of what is happening around you. But do not lose yourself in the process.
Your journey is still waiting for you. Your dreams still matter. Your learning is still unfolding.
Try to stay focused on YOU!
Love and Light,
Alan
