For years he brushed off his mom’s sketch pitches with the same line: “Why don’t we save it for the Patti Forte Sketch Show?” Now that show is real, and Patti and her best friend Carol are the stars.
Will Forte spent his SNL years fielding phone calls from his mom Patti and her best friend Carol, who kept pitching sketch ideas that were never quite right for the show. His go-to deflection became a family joke: save it for the Patti Forte Sketch Show.
Two decades later, he made it. The 6-episode hybrid follows Patti and Carol, both around 82, as they dream up original sketches, get coached by comedy pros, and perform the results themselves. Forte, an SNL cast member and writer from 2002 to 2010, produces and pops in along the way.
He filmed the episodes in 2025 and has been showing clips on late-night stops while it looks for a home. On The Kelly Clarkson Show, Tina Fey teased that it might be “the most important comedy show of the 21st century,” and Forte floated comparisons to Between Two Ferns. The women’s unpolished enthusiasm, he’s said, is the whole point.
