Burdock is a versatile plant, as its roots can be eaten and also used in decoctions/teas and tinctures. The seeds can be crushed and used in teas as a diuretic, tonic, diaphoretic, and nutritive. Burdock root is helpful with skin and urinary conditions, as a blood tonic, and is also helpful with rheumatic conditions. The root is considered to be diuretic and, with its bitter constituents, a liver alterative, and its leaves can be used on the skin as a poultice for burns, inflammation, infections, and to draw out toxins.
